Soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre and the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre and the Mariinsky Orchestra and Chorus under the baton of Valery Gergiev will present a concert performance of Sergei Prokofiev’s opera Betrothal in a Monastery. The lead roles will be sung by Anna Kiknadze, Yevgeny Akimov, Sergei Aleksashkin, Yulia Matochkina, Yevgeny Akhmedov, Roman Burdenko, Yuri Laptev and Violetta Lukyanenko. The next day, 29 July, the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev will appear at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in Vladivostok, where the musicians will be joined by young and virtuoso prize-winners of the I International Grand Piano Competition Alexander Malofeev, Shio Okui and Tinghong Liao as well as Kanon Matsuda, a student at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire. On 30 July the Vladivostok premiere of the opera Betrothal in a Monastery staged by Vladislav Pazi will open the I International Mariinsky Far East Festival. The I International Mariinsky Far East Festival will run in Vladivostok from 30 July to 10 August. Over the twelve days of the forum there will be twenty-five performances and concerts featuring the greatest soloists of the Mariinsky Opera, Ballet, Chorus and Orchestra, prize-winners of the International Tchaikovsky Competition from over the years and outstanding guest performers from Asia, Europe and North and South America.
