About

Contemporary choreography is a world in which “contemporaneity” is just as important as its recognized primary source - the art of dance. It is the world of people’s individuality where social, public and human expression of the choreographer and the dancers are not less significant than the choreographic expression itself. The world that is steeped in the context of both dance and the life around us with its cutting-edge technology and age-old problem of human relations. How is new choreography born? How is a new dance performance bornout of a tune, a thought, a movement? Diana Vishneva is a ballet dancer who herself easyly “speaks” the language of the greatest ballet innovators of the XX-XXI centuries, from Martha Graham and Maurice Bejart to Mats Ek and Alexei Ratmansky. She has come up with the “Context” international festival as a laboratory where Russian and international choreographers can show their creative writings and working methods to each other as well as to the dancers and students and of course to the Moscow audience, known for its generosity and enthusiasm.

Festival “Context. Diana Vishneva” — is a synthesis of dance and theater.
