Graduated from the vocal faculty of the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (class of Professor Khanedanian). Soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers since 2000. Made his Mariinsky Theatre debut in 2001 as Antonio in the opera Il viaggio a Reims. Roles performed at the Mariinsky Theatre include: a Monk (The Stone Guest in concert), Footman (The Marriage), Scribe (May Night), Bomely (The Maid of Pskov), Fine People (The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia in concert), Chamberlain (Le Rossignol), the Magician Celio, Farfarello (The Love for Three Oranges), the Countess` Footman, Caretaker, Policeman, Khozrev Mirza (The Nose), Mizhuev (Dead Souls), Flyagin, Storyteller (The Enchanted Wanderer), Antonio (Il viaggio a Reims), Count Ceprano (Rigoletto), Monk (Don Carlo), Alcalde (La forza del destino), Alcindoro, Schaunard (La Bohиme), Sacrist (Tosca), An Old Hebrew (Samson et Dalila), Voice of the Oracle of Neptune (Idomeneo, re di Creta), Antonio (Le nozze di Figaro), Sarastro (Die Zauberflцte), Truffaldino (Ariadne auf Naxos), Orest`s Tutor (Elektra), His repertoire also includes the roles of Osmin (Die Entfьhrung aus dem Serail), Colas (Bastien und Bastienne) and the bass roles in Beethoven`s Ninth Symphony and Stravinsky`s Renard. Pavel Shmulevich has taken part in international music festivals in Aix en Provence and Mikkeli. In 2009, at the Moscow Easter Festival, he performed the role of the Chamberlain (Le Rossignol) and the role of Antonio (Il viaggio a Reims) in Yaroslavl. He has toured to Germany, Finland, France, Sweden and the USA. In 2004 he participated in a new production of the operetta Moscow, Cheryomushki at the Opйra de Lyon. He has worked with such conductors as Pierre Boulaise, Yuri Bashmet, Alexander Lazarev and Mikko Franck. | |
