Haoyin Xue

Tenor

Chinese tenor Haoyin Xue studied at the Music Conservatory of China. Awards include the Grand Prize at the International Rimsky-Korsakov Vocal Competition and the Gold Medal at the Young Singer TV Vocal Competition of China.

He has performed under the auspices of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Russia, Finland, Canada and throughout South-East Asia.

He has appeared as Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Alfred (Die Fledermaus), the Duke (Rigoletto), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) and Alfredo (La traviata) for NCPA. He has performed as Rodolfo (La Bohème) for the Hong Kong Opera and has also sung as Rodolfo for a new Salzburg arts festival production of La Bohème in Shanghai (2012).

He joined the Jette Parker Young Artists’ Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in September 2006 and made his Royal Opera debut as Ruiz (Il trovatore), followed by the First Prisoner (Fidelio). He has sung as the Fourth Knight (Parsifal), followed by Gastone (La traviata) and Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Royal Opera House between 2006 and 2009. He appeared as Beppe (Rita, ou le mari battu) as part of the Meet the Young Artists programme in 2007 at the Linbury Studio of the Royal Opera House. He was invited to perform at a Royal Opera gala in Bath (Great Britain) in 2007 and a parliamentary opera gala in London in 2008. He has worked with many renowned conductors including Antonio Pappano, Mikko Franck, Bernard Haitink, Maurizio Benin, Mark Elder, Nicola Luisotti and Daniel Oren.

Repertoire includes: Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Nicias (Thaïs), Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Alfredo (La traviata), Don José (Carmen), Beppe (Rita, ou le mari battu), the Duke (Rigoletto) and Rodolfo (La Bohème).
