Dmitri Eremin

Cello

Cellist Dmitry Eremin performed as a soloist and chamber musician at such prestigious venues as the Madison Square Garden, Manhattan Center (USA, New York), Haydn Hall (Austria, Vienna), Seoul Art Center, Aram Nuri hall (South Korea, Seoul), St. Petersburg Philharmonic halls (Russia), Stockholm Philharmonic chamber music hall (Sweden), Sydney Opera House (Australia, Sydney), Kuala-Lumpur Convention Center (Malaysia, Kuala-Lumpur) and many others.

Dmitry Eremin was born in 1976 in Leningrad, in a musician family. At various times his teachers were I. Bogdanovich and A. Ponomarenko. In the study years, he was oftentimes awarded the main prizes at young musicians competitions and festivals. From 1989 he took an active part in the charity concerts given by the “Memorial” human rights organization in Germany, helping those who suffered in the Stalinist repression times. It was an idea of his father,who was repressived.

In 1994, Eremin graduated from the Conservatoire’s special music school-lyceum; in 1999 he got a degree in musical education (the Conservatoire, Prof. A.P. Nikitin’s class). In 2002 – 2003 he took chamber ensemble classes from Prof. A.I. Rudin at the Moscow Conservatoire.

1997 — I Prize at the All-Russian Cello Competition (Voronezh) .
1998 — "Daniil Shafran Prize" at the XI International Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow).
2000 — Special Prize at the XVI International chamber music competition (Italy, Caltanisetta).
2002 — I Prize at the IV International M.Yudina Competition (duo, trio; St. Petersburg).

Since 1999, Dmitry Eremin has taught violoncello at the St. Petersburg State Conservatoire; he has a docent title, and, since 2011, he has been Head of the Chair for Cello, Contrabass, Harp, and Quartet. He gives regular master classes in the USA, Sweden, South Korea, Italy, Germany and Poland.

In 2010 he was judge at the 1st All-Russia Music Competition that took place in 8 regions of Russia, 
in 2011 — at the “Dr. Luis Sigall International Cello Competition” in Viña del Mar (Chile), 
in 2013 — at the “International Villa-Lobos Cello Competition” in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

2005 – 2012: Art Director of “Anatoly Nikitin’s St. Petersburg Cello Ensemble”. The Ensemble’s performance under Eremin’s guidance at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival in Germany was reviewed truly favorably and acknowledged the festival year’s best performance. 2012 — For the music achievements Saint-Petersburg Cello Ensemble was given a Saint-Petersburg Goverment Literature, Art and Architecture Purse.

D. Eremin has got a number of CD recordings of his performance.

He also took part in the masterclasses given by Professors D. Shafran, M. Rostropovich, F. Helmerson, K. Georgian, D. Geringas and others. He is currently performing with a number of famous musicians, such as M. Gantvarg, N. Arzumanova, A. Rudin, A. Dogadin, S. Scheja, K. Dellert, P. Popov, H. Ticciati, S. Dogadin, O. Kondina, A. Ivanovich, I. Lebedev, E. Izotov, M. Tsalka and others. Constantly gives concerts in ensemble with his wife, the pianist Anna Rychkova, in Russia and abroad. He participated in tours of the famous Atruim String Quartet and Leonhard String Quartet (Sweden).

From 1997 in several periods he was holding the position of a Solo-cellist at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. As a Solo-cellist he worked with the well-known conductors such as E. Svetlanov, V. Gergiev, M. Jansons, G. Rozdestvenskij, N. Jarvi, Y. Temirkanov and others. As a soloist with St. Petersburg Philharmonic he performed in Dvorak, Shostakovitch and St. Petersburg Premiere's of R. Schtchedrin's Celloconcertos.

Besides, D. Eremin works closely with the modern composers G. Belov, A. Izosimov, I. Rekhin, N. Breman, S. Slonimskiy, A. Mnatsakanyan, A. Izosimov and others. The recording of I. Ostromogilsky’s Cello Concert premiere (Soloist – D. Eremin) was awarded the St. Petersburg Government’s prize.

Since 2006, D. Eremin has performed at the most famous concert halls of the USA, South Korea, Thailand, South American countries, Malaysia, African countries and Australia, being an IYF (International Youth Fellowship) artist.
