Alexander Titov

Conductor

Born in Leningrad. Graduated from the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire, specialising in three different subjects: chorus conducting (class of Professor Mikhailov) and piano (class of Professor Gentsler) in 1976 and opera and symphony conducting (class of Professor Musin) in 1981. Winner of the International Min-On Competition (Tokio, 1988).

Has been assistant to Gennady Rozhdestvensky and Mstislav Rostropovich in various musical projects.
Lecturer at the faculty of opera and symphony conducting at the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire since 1981.
From 1991 to the present - conductor at the Mariinsky Theatre.

Repertoire at the Mariinsky Theatre includes:
Operas: Verdi - La Traviata; Glinka - Ruslan and Lyudmila; Rimsky-Korsakov - Kashchei the Immortal; Prokofiev - The Gambler, Love for Three Oranges, Semyon Kotko; Stravinsky - The Nightingale; Rakhmaninov - The Miserly Knight; Shostakovich - Katerina Izmailova.
Ballets: Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker; Adam - Giselle, Le Corsaire; Minkus - Don Quixote, Paquita; Rimsky-Korsakov - Sheherazade; Prokofiev - Romeo and Juliet; Stravinsky - Firebird, The Rite of Spring, Le Baiser de la Fee; Glinka - Goya; Chopiniana; Bizet - Symphony in C; Wagner - Revival (to music from Tristan und Isolde); Borodin - Polovtsian Dances; Scriabin - Poeme de L‘Extase.

Has toured with the Mariinsky Theatre to the UK, the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, Italy, Brazil.
Has worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and all he leading St Petersburg symphony orchestras.
Has recorded over sixty CD‘s.
