Andrei Telkov was born in Voronezh in 1991. In 1998, he began his piano studies at the Specialised Middle School of Music of the Voronezh State Academy of Arts (currently known as the Voronezh College of Music) and his violin studies at the Children’s School of Arts № 14. In 2005, Telkov entered the Specialised Middle School of Music of the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire, specialising in piano (class of Vladimir Suslov) and violin (class of Savely Shalman). He continued his studies at the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (class of Alexander Sandler) in 2009. Telkov is a prize-winner of the International Charles Hennen Chamber Ensembles’ Competition (Heerlen, the Netherlands), the International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition (Narva, Estonia), the International Robert Schumann Contest for Pianists and Singers (Zwickau, Germany), and the winner of the International Jāzeps Vītols Piano Competition in Riga (Latvia). Telkov was named Best Concert Master at the Mravinsky International Competition for Youth in St Petersburg, the International Knushevitsky Cello Competition in Saratov, and the All-Russian Music Competition in Moscow.

Telkov has taken part in various programmes of the St Petersburg House of Music, as part of which he has appeared in chamber concerts and recitals, as well as performed in concerto in Ufa, Tolyatti, Petrozavodsk, Vladivostok, Vladikavkaz, Kislovodsk, Yessentuki, Veliky Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Warsaw, Washington, Bethlehem, Vienna, Brussels, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Luxembourg, Rabat, Stockholm, Helsinki, São Paulo and many other cities.
Telkov has performed chamber music with Sergei Roldugin, Martti Rousi, Fedor Belugin, Pavel Milyukov, Nikita Lyutikov, Leonid Baranov, Ivan Sendetsky and other musicians.
