Elisabeth LEONSKAJA was born in Tbilisi. When she was born 11 years old, she had her first performance with the orchestra, and 2 years later she gave her first recital. She studied in Moscow Conservatoire (1964 - 1971) under the guiding of professor J.Milshtein. She is laureate of several International competitions. She was connected by longstanding friendship with S.Richter, and gave many concerts in duets with him before she left Soviet Union. At present time E.Leonskaja has been living in Austria. She performs solo and with world best orchestras in Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Finland, Italy, Japan, USA. She is permanent participant of International Festivals in Edinburgh, Lucerne, Vienna etc. She collaborates with outstanding conductors, performs in chamber ensembles.
