Graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet and from the choreography department of the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 1984, in addition to completing Advanced Directing Courses of the Ministry of Culture in 1986. Has worked with directors including Grigory Kozlov, Grigory Dityatkovsky, Alexander Galibin and Sergei Spivak as well as Andrei Konchalovsky and Yuri Alexandrov and conductor Valery Gergiev at the Mariinsky Theatre. Has worked with theatres in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, Italy, Spain and the USA.
