Claudio Colorettti was born in Parma. His first work was Donizetti‘s La Fille du regiment (directed by B. De Tommazi, Teatro Regio, Parma, 1975). Has worked at the Teatro Stabile di Parma from 1983, where he has designed the lighting for over 160 productions. His most famous works include Uncle Vanya (directed by Peter Stein), The Tempest (directed by Peter Brooke), Crimes of the Heart (directed by Nanni Loi) and Sophocles? trilogy Antigone, Oedipus Rex and Oedipus in Colona (directed by L. Dal?Albo). Claudio Coloretti has worked at many theatre festivals including the Avignon Festival, the Edinburgh Festival, the Festival d?Automne in Paris and the Summer-Fest in New York. Claudio Coloretti?s works in opera include Puccini?s Madama Butterfly, Jenufa, Don Carlo, Il trovatore, Tosca, La traviata, Cavalleria rusticana and Il barbiere di Siviglia. Rigoletto is Claudio Colorettti?s third work for the Mariinsky Theatre, having already worked on productions of Cosi fan tutte and Il trittico (directed by Walter Le Moli).
