People?s Artist of Georgia, winner of State and International Prizes.
Graduated from the Academy of Arts in Tbilisi in 1965 (under P. Lapiashvili, S. Kobuladze, V. Shukhayev, S. Virsaladze). Began to work for theatres in 1963. Designed more than 150 productions in Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Byelorussia, Poland, Turkey, Italy, France and Armenia. Among then, he designed several works for the Mariinsky Theatre: Knight in the Tiger?s Skin by A. Machavariai (1984), The Battleship Potiomkin by A. Thchaikovsky (1985), The Sorochinsky Fair by M. Mussorgsky (1989), The Gambler by S. Prokofiev (1990), Don Carlo by G. Verdi (1999) and Lucia di Lammermoor by G. Donizetti (2000).
