Recipient of Russia`s national theatre prize the Golden Mask (2002 and 2004) and the International Stanislavsky Prize.
Born in Moscow. Graduated from the Russian Academy of Theatre Art (GITIS) in 1993. Has staged numerous opera and drama productions for theatres in Moscow, St Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Vilnius, Kazan, Omsk and Samara. Among dramas he has designed are works by Wilde, Shaw, Maugham, Fougard and Durrenmatt. Has designed the sets and costumes for almost all his own productions, as well as for productions by other stage directors: Der Fliegende Hollander (Perm Theatre of Opera and Ballet, 1993), Cosi fan tutte (Ludwigsburg Festival 1999) and Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail (Helikon Opera, Moscow).
Among his most recent works are West Side Story (Samara Drama, 2002), Double Inconstancy (Globus theatre, Novosibirsk), The Rake?s Progress (Bolshoi Theatre, 2003) and Aida (Novosibirsk Opera, 2004).
