Daniil Meerovich

Viola soloist

Born March 16, 1956 in Leningrad.

 

In 1963 he entered the SSMSH the Leningrad State Conservatory named after Rimsky-Korsakov. He graduated from the Conservatory viola (Prof. Yu.M.Kramarov), was a post-graduate from Professor V.I.Stopicheva.

 
Diploma-Union competition of performers (1980).

From 1978 to 1991 he worked in the orchestra of the Kirov (Mariinsky) Theatre as deputy concertmaster of the violas (conductor - YU.H. Temirkanov).

In 1991 he entered the Academic Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg Philharmonic, where since 1994 he has been the concertmaster of the violas. Honored Artist of Russia in 2001.

Playing in a quartet named Stravinsky (formerly the New Philharmonic Quartet).

Performing practice successfully combines with teaching, being a teacher SSMSH-Lyceum of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, viola and string quartet.
