Graduated from the Saratov Conservatoire and joined the Saratov Opera and Ballet Theatre in 1978. Soloist of the Maly Opera and Ballet Theatre, Leningrad in 1980-89. Joined the Mariinsky Theatre (Kirov Opera) in 1989.
