Principal Dancer
Born in St Petersburg.
Graduated from the Vaganova Academy (class of Professor Vladilen Semenov) in 1980.
Joined the Mariinsky Theatre in 1980. Principal since 1986.

Honoured Artist of Russia (2002).
Prizewinner of International competitions (Varna, 1980; Moscow 1985).
Won the BALTIKA prize (1999).

Repertoire includes:
La Sylphide (James), Napoli or The Fisherman and His Fiancee (The Fisherman), Giselle (Albrecht), The Sleeping Beauty (Prince Desire), Paquita (Pas de Trois); Fokine?s Chopiniana, Petrouchka (Petrouchka), Carnaval (Harlequin); Balanchine?s Symphony in C (3rd part); The Queen of Spades (Hermann), Orpheus and Eurydice (Orpheus).

1995 - Leda and the Swan at the Hermitage Theatre, St Petersburg.
1996 - The Sleeping Beauty (revised by Konstantin Sergeyev) at the Novosibirsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
1997 - the dances in the opera La Gioconda at the Teatro Carlo Felice, Genova.
1998 - The Nutcracker (after Ivanov and Vainonen) at the Novosibirsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
1998 - Bournonville Conservatoire at the Novosibirsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet (runner-up of the Golden Mask prize).
1999 - reconstructed the choreography of the 1890 Mariinsky Theatre production of The Sleeping Beauty.
2000 - reconstructed Fokine?s Petrouchka for the Mariinsky Theatre.
2001 - reconstructed Marius Petipa?s original choreography for Coppelia for the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre (prizewinner of the the Golden Mask, as Best Production).
2002 - La Bayadere (revival of Marius Petipa?s 1900 version) at the Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg.
