Paolo Bressan

Conductor

Paolo Bressan studied music at the Conservatorio Giueppe Verdi di Milano and the Weimar Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt. His tutors have included Daniele Gatti, Christian Thielemann and Emmanuel Vuillaume.

Has worked at the Mecklenburg State Theatre (Sweden), the Kiel Theater and occupied the post of Principal Conductor of the Schwerin Youth Symphony Orchestra. He has conducted performances of Der Freischütz in Flensburg, Die Zauberflöte in Karlsruhe and Così fan tutte in Vendôme.

He has been an assistant conductor to Christian Thielemann (Cavalleria rusticana and I pagliacci at the Salzburg Easter Festival), Kazushi Ōno (Der Fliegene Holländer at the Opéra de Lyon) and Emmanuel Vuillaume (L'Africaine at the Teatro La Fenice). In 2015 he made his debut at the Vienna Konzerthaus with the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra. The same year, he conducted Bastien et Bastienne at the Dallas Opera. In 2016 he made his debut at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. In the 2019–2020 season he will conduct the Dallas Opera in performances of Die Zauberflöte and Don Carlo.
