Tamara Rojo

Principal Dancer
Born to Spanish parents, she started dancing at the age of 10 in VŠ½ctor Ullate Dance Centre in Madrid. Then she continued to work with the Ullate Company. In 1996, she was offered a contract with the Scottish Ballet, in 1997 she joined the English National Ballet. She joined the Royal Ballet as a Principal Dancer at the start of the 2000/2001 season. Tamara Rojo has won a number of choreographic premiums and awards: Grand Prix at the International Dance Contest in Paris (1994), First Prize of Italian Critics as Best Dancer of the Year (1996), Critic's Circle Dance Awards (2002), Leonid Massine Premium (2004), Premio Principe de Asturias a las Artes (2005), Benois de la dance (2008). The repertory of Tamara Rojo includes classical and modern choreography.
