Alexandr Chernov

Principal Chorus Master
Alexandr Chernov gradu­ated from Chorus Schoolat Glinka State Academic Capella and also from StPetersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory (1973) as chorus conductor (under the professor A.Krylov‘s leadership).

In 1974 A. Chernov be­came chorus master of St. Petersburg Mussorgsky Opera and Ballet Theatre and in 1987 he was appointed Chief chorus master.

As Chief chorus master, he worked on the following opera productions: "Khovanshchina" by Mussorgsky, "The Brothers Karamazov" by Kholminov, "The Golden Cockerel", "The Tale of.the Tsar Saltan" by Rimsky-Korsakov, "Prince

Igor” by Borodin, “Don Carlo”, “La Traviata” by Verdi, "Die Fledermaus" by Strauss, "Don Giovanni" by Mozart, "Carmen" by Bizet.

A.Chernov was awarded the First prize of St.Petersburg Mayor for the work on the produc­tion of the opera "Peter I" by A. Petrov.
